Coming to visit the UK

Blogging at the airport

Well, here we are in Phnom Penh airport awaiting our flight back to the UK and making the most of 30 minutes of free wifi. After just over 10 months here we are returning to the UK for the first time for a 40 day visit.

Its feels somewhat unreal that in around 24 hours time we will be stepping off the plane at Heathrow, with the people and things that we have come to be so familiar with here thousands of miles away.

We went out for a celebratory meal last night and jotted down a few things that we might find strange in the UK – here’s a sample…..

  • Houses having carpet, not tiles
  • Driving in a car and not wearing a motorbike helmet on every journey
  • Being able to drink tap water
  • Wearing socks
  • Paying more than $3 to fill our vehicle with petrol
  • Using credit cards and coins – everything is done with paper money here

We are really looking forward to catching up with family and friends. We are particularly excited about meeting our two new nephews.

Thanks for following our blog this year – we hope you have found it interesting. Much more to follow when we return…..
